Hello there! A Pescatarian paleo diet is not the same thing as a very low-carb diet. True paleo is not low-carb.

Rather, it’s about embracing ancestral health principles. That is, eating toxin-free whole foods.

A paleo diet requires the consumption of unprocessed meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables. But it excludes legumes, grains, and other dairy products.

On the other hand, if you choose to eat fish and seafood, you’re following a pescatarian paleo.

Red meat may not be good for everyone. Studies are conflicting, though, regarding its role in heart-related issues. Some experts are saying that red meat increases blood pressure. This is especially true if it’s high in fats.

What to Eat on Pescatarian Paleo Diet? 

This type of diet is ideal if you don’t fancy eating steak or bacon. You can put together a well-balanced Pescatarian diet while staying within the principles of Paleo eating.

The approach is quite different from the traditional Paleo. It needs a few modifications.

However, it’s still a healthy diet that lets you obtain all the nutrition you need without having to eat meat.

In that case, you avoid eating animal flesh and meat. But you can consume fish.

This is the reason pescatarian paleo is like following a vegetarian diet. You avoid red meat, poultry, and pork. However, you can eat any fish and shellfish.

You may assume that this is the same thing as a vegetarian diet. However, it’s not. They have similarities but they are different in most ways.

This is a good way to cut back on red meat consumption without becoming completely vegetarian.

There’s no right or wrong way of eating when on the pescatarian paleo diet. But the basics include:

  • Vegetables
  • Fruits

  • Seeds
  • Healthy
  • Fats
  • Oils

Avoid the following:

  • Processed food
  • Sugar
  • Soft drinks
  • Dairy products
  • Artificial sweeteners
  • Vegetable oils
  • Margarine
  • Trans fats
  • Here’s a sample menu containing a balanced amount of pescatarian-paleo foods.

Breakfast

  • Salmon fried olive oil
  • A piece of fruit

Lunch

  • Chicken salad with olive oil
  • Nuts

Dinner

  • Stir-fry ground beef with berries and vegetables

Better Than a Strict Vegetarianism 

There are many benefits to following this diet. This style is better than strict vegetarianism because it gives you more options for food variety.

If you follow Paleo and vegetarianism, you can easily get tired of eating eggs all the time. Keep in mind that there are other good protein sources.

When on pescatarian paleo, you can include a variety of fish and seafood to obtain the protein that your body needs.

You can also enjoy a variety of recipes and dishes.

What’s more, is that you can eat a lot of fish high in omega-3 fatty acids. They are required for optimal health.

Furthermore, you can obtain plenty of vitamins and minerals that can affect your overall health and wellness.

How to Fill Missing Nutrients? 

If you compare the foods that you eat on the Pescatarian diet compared to traditional Paleo, you’ll see that there are nutrients that you might be missing.

For instance, saturated fat is a vital nutrient. It’s commonly found in meat. But you can replace it with coconut oil, eggs, and butter.

Another important nutrient that is missing in pescatarians is vitamin K2. It’s typically found in meat. But you can obtain it by eating egg yolks.

But choose eggs from pastured chickens

Conjugated linoleic acid is also necessary for your body to function well. It is readily available in grass-fed meat.

Since you’re avoiding meat, you can still get this nutrient by eating grass-fed butter. Or you can just eat pastured eggs.

If you look closely at this hybrid Paleo diet, you will realize that you need grass-fed, pasture-based eggs or butter.

They can let you stay away from animal meat but you can still obtain the nutrition that your body needs.

However, it’s vital that you only use high-quality eggs and butter.

Instead of going to the regular grocery store, go to a shop that offers a high-quality source of eggs and butter.

No Simple Approach

It’s important to note that this type of diet has no single approach that can work for everyone. There are variations to help you find what fits your lifestyle.

You can do better without dairy products. But others thrive on them.

You may also feel better with a low-carb approach. But some people feel better if they have more carbs.

Thus, you should only use it as a template. In that case, you can choose your own approach.

That is, it has a basic set of ancestral health guidelines that you can use to customize your meal plan to meet your unique needs.

The only way to know what kind of food is ideal for your body is to experiment. Then, observe what it does to your body.

You may remove those potentially harmful foods. For instance, you can avoid dairy or eggs for a certain period.

Then, add them back and observe your reactions.

Because we’re all similar, it makes sense to follow a paleo template.

There are foods that can affect all of us, even though we are individually different.

Why Should You Follow a Pescatarian Paleo Diet?

Since you avoid processed foods, this diet can offer a lot of health benefits.

This can be a healthy way of eating as it can lead to a healthy body and mind.

Since it doesn’t include foods that can raise your blood sugar levels, it can help in preventing and managing your diabetes.

Because of the absence of processed foods, this diet can help in improving your cardiovascular system. It also reduces heart disease.

Eating pescatarian paleo lets you cook healthy fats without red meat. It can definitely improve your heart condition.

Then, you add more vegetables to the equation to lead to better health.

Obtains Tons of Nutrients

Eating a high amount of omega-3 fatty acids means that you are getting good protein sources. You will also get a good source of vitamin D.

What’s not great about this diet is that it is quite challenging to prepare this meal. Then again, there are a few replacements that you can do to meet your requirements.

Can You Lose Weight with this Diet? 

This diet is mostly for health reasons. But some people follow it to lose weight.

You may choose to follow it along with intermittent fasting. Or you can opt to eat just one meal a day.

Eating Fish 

If you’re the kind of person who loves to eat fish and other seafood options, then pescatarian paleo is an excellent choice. It can help you lead a healthy life.
