5 Best Tocotrienols Supplements to Help in Lowering Cholesterol Levels

December 9, 2022 by Jane Danes Leave a Comment

Supplementing your body with the most common form of vitamin E won’t improve your health over the long term. But tocotrienols might. Pairing high-quality supplements with our Mindful Eating Guide ensures you’re supporting your body from the inside out.

Check out these best tocotrienol supplements that contain the more potent vitamin E, which can increase brain health and anticancer activity. This form of vitamin E can also lower your blood cholesterol levels.

Vitamin E and the Best Tocotrienols Supplement

best tocotrienols supplement -- vitamin e discovery

In the family of Vitamin E, there are 8 members divided into two tocopherols and tocotrienols.

Vitamin E was discovered in 1922 when researchers at UC Berkeley studied rats’ fertility. They unearthed a compound in vegetables needed by rats to bring a baby to full term.

As a Medical Technologist, I spend a lot of time reading about how micronutrients interact with cellular membranes. Tocopherols are the most well-known form of Vitamin E. However, tocotrienols have a unique molecular structure, shorter ‘tails, ‘that allow them to move through cell membranes 50 times faster. This isn’t just a marketing claim; it’s a matter of biochemical bioavailability.

These researchers called it the anti-sterility factor. Later on, they named it tocopherol. It’s a Greek term meaning to carry a pregnancy.

Researchers on vitamin E focused on the tocopherol form.

In the 1960s, researchers uncovered tocotrienols. At that time, they thought they were just a type of tocopherol.

But in the early 2000s, they identified them as a different form of vitamin E with better, more potent properties than their siblings.

Tocotrienols have shorter tails and heads. They don’t connect deeply to the cell membrane.

Because of how they are structured, they can easily enter cells and fight free radicals.

That’s why they are said to be 50 times more powerful than tocopherols.

This form of vitamin E can be found in foods. But you will only get a small number of them from vegetable oils, grains, nuts, and barley, among others.

If you want to maximize their benefits, you may consider tocotrienol supplements.

Let’s examine the highest-quality tocotrienol supplements available on the market.

Before you invest in high-quality tocotrienols, it’s important to understand that your body’s ability to absorb these lipid-soluble nutrients depends on your Vagus Nerve function. If you are in a state of chronic financial stress or ‘survival mode,’ your digestive system (the enteric nervous system) often slows down.

This is why I suggest pairing these supplements with somatic resets. When your nervous system is regulated, your gut can actually process and utilize these potent antioxidants rather than just letting them pass through your system.

1.) Kyani Sunset with Tocotrienols

This supplement is one of the products of Kyani that forms the triangle of health. It supports the body’s vital systems by maintaining your muscles, skin, vision, and immune system.

It contains a patented blend of vitamin E, tocotrienols, omega-3 from wild Alaskan sockeye salmon, vitamin A, and essential vitamin D.

The source of tocotrienols in Kyani Sunset is from the annatto bush. It’s a plant that grows in South America. It’s also the only plant that offers pure tocotrienols without tocopherols.

Furthermore, annatto tocotrienol has the highest concentrations with 150 times fewer tocopherols than palm sources.

In addition to tocotrienols, Kyani Sunset also contains beta-carotene, which is known to sustain optimal health and brain function.

This is a lipid-soluble nutrient that can also act as an antioxidant. It protects the cells from oxidative damage.

Kyani Sunset also includes vitamin D3, which is required by your body for normal growth and development. It’s necessary for the proper absorption of calcium.

The sun is the best source of vitamin D. Unfortunately, because of the harmful effects of the sun’s rays, we don’t get enough of it.

That’s why supplementation can be a better option to get this essential nutrient.

Kyani Sunset is not available at the drugstore. You can only obtain it from a Kyani distributor.

If you don’t know it yet, Kyani is a multi-level marketing platform. It’s like Herbalife and Amway.

Kyani, like Herbalife, operates on an MLM platform. While the annatto-sourced tocotrienols in Sunset are clinically impressive because they lack the ‘interference’ of tocopherols, it’s important to stay mindful of the ‘hype’ often found in these communities. Always audit how a supplement makes your body feel rather than just following a distributor’s script.

2.) Vitacost Vitamin E and Tocotrienol Supplement

This product is vegan-friendly. It’s also basic because you’re only getting vitamin E. There are no other nutrients present in it.

Unlike Kyani Sunset, this supplement has 134 mg of tocopherols and only 16.6 mg of tocotrienols. The amount is just half of the tocopherols.

The biggest benefit of it is its pricing. It’s more affordable than the Sunset.

It also contains soy products. If you’re allergic to it, then avoid it.

3.) Palm Fruit Tocotrienol

the best source of tocotrienol

Palm is one of the excellent sources of tocotrienols. Unlike the annatto bush, the palm tree contains tocochromanols including tocopherols and tocotrienols.

In addition to vitamin E, this supplement also includes lycopene. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can fight some diseases. Plus, it has anti-cancer effects.

This product also contains coenzyme Q10 which can boost energy metabolism and increase mitochondrial function.

4.) E Annatto Tocotrienols

It’s from Wellness Extract that causes science-based ingredients to keep their highest standard when manufacturing products.

The gelatin used in the capsules is bovine gelatin. It’s a USD-certified and BSE-free. It’s also certified no-soy. Just like Kyani, this product has no tocopherol.

The company manufactured it from its approved facility in the US with premium quality tocotrienol.

5.) Now Advanced Gamma E Complex

It has mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols. Now is a well-known brand that has been around since 1968.

Although it doesn’t contain soy, it still contains soy derivatives. It also has no sugar, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, eggs, and preservatives.

The capsules are easy to swallow with no aftertaste.

You may notice that your muscles and joints recover faster after exercising. But you have to take the recommended dose for at least a week to see the difference.

Many of its customers stated that their joint issues have improved after taking it.

Getting the Benefits of Tocotrienols

Tocotrienols are potent forms of vitamin E, as mentioned earlier. However, obtaining it from your diet can be difficult.

Palm oil and rice have tocotrienols. But they are not enough to provide maximum benefits.

Furthermore, they contain tocopherols. Scientists believe that mixing tocopherols and tocotrienols will cancel out the benefits of the latter.

To get the benefits of tocotrienols, you should take them as a supplement. The most potent forms are delta and gamma tocotrienols. Annatto bush is the only plant that contains 100% of them.

In that case, among the many tocotrienol supplements, Kyani Sunset offers the highest form of tocotrienols without tocopherols.

When shopping for this type of supplement, make sure to check the labels. As mentioned, most vitamin E supplements contain tocopherols, instead of tocotrienols.

Tocotrienols are excellent nutritional compounds that can alleviate some serious medical conditions. You can include them as part of your daily routine to ensure optimum health.

By taking tocotrienols regularly, you’ll notice a huge difference in your skin, hair, and heart health.

For skin benefits, these nutrients tackle deep tissue to get rid of free radicals that degrade collagen production and fats. In that case, your wrinkles will reduce. They can also help in reducing the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays.

Your hair can also benefit from tocotrienols. If you suffer from hair thinning for some reason, you may consider supplementing your body with this nutrient. It’s worth a try.

This powerful supplement can protect you against high cholesterol while reducing your risk of age-related cardiovascular disease.

You’ll notice a difference in your skin, hair, and heart health—but only if you are consistent and observant. I recommend using the Mindful Eating Journal to track your ‘Somatic Data’ while starting a new supplement.

Don’t just wait for your skin to look better; track your daily energy levels, your inflammation markers (like joint stiffness), and your mood. This journal helps you move from ‘blindly supplementing’ to Intrinsic Health, where you know exactly what your body needs and when.
