Are Weight Loss Clinics Effective in Helping You Lose Weight and Maintain It?

do weight loss clinics work

If you’re like most people who find themselves struggling to lose the weight they gained after the holidays, then you probably wonder, “Do weight loss clinics work?” Do they? That’s what we’re going to find out here.

Keep reading to know more.

Do Weight Loss Clinics Work? How?

They work if you want them to work.

But first, you need to understand what they are and how they can help you lose weight.

A weight loss clinic, per se, is a center that helps individuals like you who struggle to lose weight. The clinic aims to educate people in finding out the best strategies for staying healthy.

Unlike other weight-loss approaches, the clinics have licensed and trained clinicians, doctors, and medical staff. They are there to provide you with methods based on medical evidence to assist you in losing weight.

Most of the weight loss clinics are supervised by doctors. The plans involve diet, supplements, and exercise.

The clinics work. They can help you lose weight, as long as you follow the plans.

Even though these clinics are effective in helping you lose weight, you must keep in mind that not all clinics are credible.

A reputable clinic should not just teach you a weight loss plan but must also offer guidance on how to go about the plan.

Some weight loss clinics would only prescribe weight loss pills during a short visit. They don’t even get the comprehensive medical history of their patients to find out the best way for them to lose weight or if the pills will work for them based on their history.

These are the clinics that you avoid. They only want your money. You may lose weight but the weight loss is not sustainable.

A credible clinic, however, focuses on lifestyle counseling.

This will provide you with the tools that you need to ensure you’re making healthy choices. It offers tips so you can learn how to incorporate exercise into your routine.

The clinic may recommend tracking your calorie intake, which is ideal. The reason for this is that weight loss depends on the calories you take. You need to take fewer calories than your body burns.

You should also consider a clinic that offers stress management.

Keep in mind that stress can lead to binge eating. When you properly manage your stress, you can sleep well.

And having adequate sleep is vital for your weight.

It’s also not advisable to go to a weight loss clinic that promises you will lose 5 pounds of weight each week.

If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is. If the approach is not based on research and medical evidence, steer clear of that clinic.

What to Expect When Visiting a Weight Loss Clinic?

do weight loss clinics work -- consultation

First-timers will have to undergo a thorough consultation. This is useful so the clinicians can better understand your situation.

The consultation involves knowing your health and medical history, as well as your lifestyle and exercise habits.

Then, the medical staff will measure your weight and BMI.

After learning your medical and health history, the clinician will create a program tailored for your situation.

This is necessary because every person is different.

A one-size-fits-all approach isn’t a good idea, especially if you have been trying to lose weight many times but you always fail.

Your clinician may provide you with a meal plan. Typically, you’ll be put on a low-calorie diet. But it depends on your medical history.

A credible clinic will design a plan that incorporates high-intensity training.

Your diet plan depends on your current weight, exercise, and diet, as well as medical history.

On the other hand, if you’re still not losing weight after careful dieting, your clinician may recommend the use of weight loss medications.

If you have lost weight but regained it after finishing the program, your last resort may be bariatric surgery.

But this surgery is the last resort. Clinicians will find other non-invasive methods to help you with your quest.

However, there are some patients who need to undergo it because no weight-loss method can help them achieve their weight loss goal.

Is Weight Loss Clinic Right for You?

If you want to have someone who will supervise your weight loss, then going to a clinic can be helpful.

However, if you’re the kind of person who hates following instructions from a doctor or dietitian, then a weight loss clinic isn’t ideal for you.

Keep in mind that there are other ways to lose weight. Going to a weight loss clinic is just one of them.

You might want to try intermittent fasting first. But don’t follow the longer fast, though.

Make sure to use short fasts, like fasting for 12hours. OMAD may help you lose weight quickly. However, it may not be sustainable for you.

And if you do try intermittent fasting, you may consider incorporating a ketogenic diet. This plan includes focusing on healthy fats and eating moderate protein. But this plan requires you to limit your carb intake.

It doesn’t hurt to go to a weight loss clinic, though. But remember that you have to pay a certain fee for a consultation. It can be expensive later on.

Summary

Do weight loss clinics work? They do work, as long as you’re committed to losing weight and following the plans provided. If not, then going to this clinic will just be a waste of your time and money.
