Can a Carnivore Diet Reverse Heart Disease

Our genome has not changed much in the past 10,000 years. But because many people have adopted a sedentary lifestyle, their activity levels diverged. It’s a lot different from the hunter-gatherers. Furthermore, our diet has changed from eating natural foods to consuming processed, refined foods. Because of that, many of us are now suffering from heart disease. Can a carnivore diet reverse heart disease? Or does it clog your arteries?

Keep reading to find out more.

Can a Carnivore Diet Reverse Heart Disease?

This diet is not fully studied.

However, according to research from Saint Louis University, investigators found that high-fat diets could prevent or reverse heart failure as a result of a metabolic process.

Then again, there’s not enough research to recommend this diet for those who suffer from heart disease. Thus, it’s not easy to suggest it.

Furthermore, there’s strong evidence that our ancestors ate meat and plants.

If you are a vegetarian, you’re not protected against any disease. When vegetarians and fish-consuming individuals were compared, the latter had lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglycerides. They also had higher levels of omega-3s.

Vegetarians, on the other hand, mostly eat processed carbs. The high glycemic load can increase the risk of metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease. Whether you are choosing a plant-based or a meat-based path, awareness is key. Using a Mindful Eating Guide can help you distinguish between a genuine nutritional need and a craving for processed sugars.

Diets that are high in lean protein can improve lipid profiles. Thus, when you choose to follow a carnivore diet, it may help in improving lipid profiles and your overall health.

Furthermore, when you eat lean meat, you may improve your satiety levels, thereby increasing the calorie burn from foods. It also improves your insulin sensitivity, which plays a huge role in weight loss.

However, it’s vital to eat the right meat. You should also avoid cooking red meat at high temperatures. They can cause charred meat.

Furthermore, you must avoid loading the meat with salt and preservatives as they contain carcinogens.

Then again, if you strictly follow a carnivore diet, you’re depriving yourself of the nutrients found in plants.

That’s why, if you wish to follow it, make sure to do it short-term.

Can the Carnivore Diet Help Heart Disease?

This highly restrictive carnivore diet may help with heart disease. But there’s no conclusive evidence.

It’s not well-studied, so you won’t know its long-term effects. It may or may not help you.

Hence, you should talk to your doctor first before you follow it. Eliminating vegetables and fruits from your diet may help you find which one triggers the inflammation. But don’t do it long-term.

Otherwise, you may suffer from vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Keep in mind that a carnivore diet is restrictive. Without the nutrients from plants, you may not get enough vitamins A, C, and B12.

You may also suffer from digestive health issues because of the lack of fiber from plants. There might be imbalances in the gut microbiome over time.

Does the Carnivore Diet Clog Your Arteries?

Can a Carnivore Diet Reverse Heart Disease -- eat the right amount of meat

Many experts consider meat unhealthy, and it can induce disease. It may also clog your arteries. But there’s not enough research to conclude it.

Probably, if you just eat the right amount of meat per meal, it may not clog your arteries. Then, if you pair it with drinking enough water and exercising regularly, this diet may help your medical condition.

However, because there’s insufficient research about this diet, it’s difficult to conclude. You don’t know its effects if you follow it long-term.

What Diet Claims to Reverse Heart Disease?

Changing your diet and lifestyle can help slow the progression of your heart disease. However, reversal is a different story.

Although there are studies about people reversing their heart disease after following a plant-based diet, the results must be confirmed in larger studies.

It means we don’t know what will happen if we cut out animal products or eat only meat.

Thus, if you talk of a diet that can reverse heart disease, it’s difficult to conclude. Having a balanced diet is probably the best way to go.

You should also increase your physical activities every day. It’s also vital to avoid a sedentary lifestyle.

If you wish to follow a plant-based diet, you must remember that it’s not automatically a healthy diet, and it doesn’t always mean it can help in reversing heart disease.

To help you reverse your heart disease, you must talk to a nutritionist or a dietitian. Always remember that what’s good for someone else may not necessarily be good for you.

Should You Try the Carnivore Diet?

Before you embark on this journey, make sure to research more about this diet. Some people indeed have positive things to say about this diet.

Joe Rogan is promoting it.

A lot of people are posting their positive experiences with this diet on YouTube.

But it doesn’t mean that it’s good for you, too. Keep in mind that every person is different.

If you wish to know what will happen if you eat only meat for 30 days, this video by Dr. Berg may help enlighten you.

It’s also important to note that this diet isn’t for everyone.

If you have chronic kidney disease, you must talk to your doctor first. It may help your autoimmune disease. But you should consult with your doctor or a dietitian.

A carnivore diet is a highly restrictive diet. It may affect your social life. You may say no all the time when your friends or colleagues invite you to dine out with them.

However, there’s always a way to get through this obstruction.

Before you leave the house, you can eat first. Then, when you meet with your friends, you may still socialize with them, but ask for meat as the only option.

You should also avoid drinking beer and other alcoholic drinks. Rather, make sure to drink only water.

You may try this diet for a short period, like 30 days. Use it to eliminate the foods that have been triggering your allergies.

Summary

Can a carnivore diet reverse heart disease? There’s not enough research to conclude that this diet can help reverse this condition. Consult your doctor about it.
