The commercials for online dating promised everyone that finding a partner is just as easy as swiping or liking a profile. Then, when you meet this person, you’d fall in love on your very first meeting. You live happily ever after. But what if you’re overweight? Being overweight and dating can be quite tricky. So, what do you do to get a boyfriend?

Overweight Dating: Getting a Boyfriend When You’re Overweight

Think Positive 

It is difficult to get a boyfriend when you’re overweight. But it is more complicated if you always think negatively. Instead of thinking about not getting a boyfriend because of your weight, you should shift your mindset.

By thinking positively, you can convince yourself that you can find that person to love you for you who you are. You are worthy of meeting someone to share your life with.

One of the ways to shift your mindset is to try journaling. Every morning when you wake up, try writing down the things you are thankful for. It can be your job, your family, or any positive aspect of your life.

Be Ready to Meet Someone 

Have you heard of manifestation? Well, it might work for you. But it is not for everyone. However, there’s no harm in trying it out.

Keep your eyes open in every situation. You can see new possibilities wherever you go.

Perhaps, you can meet him at the grocery store or in the airport lounge.

Or it can be in a local coffee shop.

When you meet this guy, make sure you know how to strike up a conversation. If you don’t know how to break the ice, then you’re lost.

The said book will also help you learn how to love yourself by shifting your mindset. Most people who are in a relationship today don’t love themselves.

When you struggle with feeling worthy of your life, it will not help you find a partner who will love you for who you are.

You have to start loving yourself first. It can take time. You need to change your thinking about yourself.

Remember that being overweight doesn’t mean that you are unsightly. You should never feel like you can’t find someone to love and cherish you if you are overweight.

When you know how to love yourself, you can find a boyfriend who will cherish you for you.

Focus on What You’re Good At

As part of learning how to love yourself, you need to focus on your strengths. Each day, you need to reflect on the things you like about yourself.

Writing your affirmations can be a good idea.

You can write them down or say them out loud while in front of a mirror.

For instance, you can look at yourself in the mirror and say, “You are worthy to be loved.” Or say, “You have gorgeous eyes.” “You will find someone to love you for who you are.”

When making your affirmations, you must avoid saying negative things. For instance, you can’t say, “You can find a partner even though you’re fat.” The negative thinking will only affect the so-called “vibration.”

There are tons of affirmations online that you can copy. On YouTube, there are plenty of videos that you can watch to help you focus on your strengths. We can highly recommend the Proctor Gallagher channel. It has full of affirmation videos that are useful for your quest.

Take Care of Yourself 

Another way to boost your confidence is to take care of how you look. You can spend some time grooming and putting yourself together. It can be an instant mood booster.

Start wearing clothes that will help you feel more confident. It doesn’t have to be trendy clothing. Add jewelry to your outfit or wear a red sweater to work.

Experiment with new looks. For instance, you can try a new hairstyle. If you have not tried shorter hair yet, you should.

You can also ask your friend for advice. But be open to feedback.

Boost Your Mood Through Exercise 

Exercise is an instant mood booster. You can go walking, jogging or cycling. Any exercise can elevate your mood. And when you’re working up a sweat, you can feel good about yourself. But that’s not all, it can also increase your energy.

You can grab a group class. A spinning class is a good option. Perhaps, you can meet someone there. Someone who will change your life for the better.

It might also be time to look at your weight. Perhaps, it is time to lose weight. When you choose to lose weight, though, don’t consider it as a way to meet a man. Instead, do it for your overall health.

There are a lot of ways to lose weight. In addition to exercising, you might consider OMAD or intermittent fasting. This is ideal if you don’t want to be on a diet. Keep in mind that IF or one meal a day is not a diet. Rather, it is a lifestyle.

A lot of people said that after starting OMAD, they feel good about themselves. And of course, the result of their eating one meal a day is weight loss.

You can lose weight with OMAD, as long as you follow the recommended calories. If you go beyond the suggested calories based on your height and weight, you’ll still gain weight.
