    Natural Alternatives to Xanax (alprazolam)

Alprazolam – Natural Alternatives to Xanax (alprazolam)

Alprazolam is the generic name of Xanax, which is a prescription medicine that treats mainly anxiety and panic disorder. It produces a calming effect as it acts on the brain and the nerves.

It’s an effective drug to treat depression. Unfortunately, it comes with several side effects, such as the following:

    • Drowsiness
    • Dizziness
    • Change in libido

Most of these side effects are mild and they would go away after a few days. However, if you experience trouble walking, mood changes, difficulty talking and memory problems, you need to talk to your doctor immediately.

Some users of this drug experienced insomnia as one of its negative side effects.

How long do the effects of Xanax last?

They don’t last that long. Typically, the effects will only last for 4 hours. With that being said, it’s not usually the ideal drug in treating chronic anxiety disorders.

But Xanax (alprazolam) can be addictive. This is one of the reasons many people opt for natural alternatives to this drug as they’re safer to use.

    Natural alternatives to Xanax (alprazolam)

    1. Passionflower

The flavones chrysin content of this herb has anti-anxiety properties. In fact, its effects are almost the same as Xanax.

To use it as a natural alternative to treat anxiety, drink it as a tea.

    1. Simply infuse 1 tablespoon of this herb in a cup of boiling.
    2. Let the herb sit there for 10 minutes.
    3. Drink it while it’s still hot. But you should only take the tea when it’s time for you to sleep.

This herb is a reasonable substitute for the most popular anti-anxiety drug known as Xanax.

    2. Kava kava

It’s a feel-good herb that may help your anxiety levels, as well as insomnia. Other anxiety symptoms may also be treated with this herb.

Although it’s difficult to find kava kava in its fresh form, it’s available in various preparations, like extracts, topicals, and capsules. You may also find kava kava tea.

    3. Ashwagandha

A great alternative to Xanax (alprazolam), ashwagandha is ideal if you’re nervous and exhausted after experiencing physical and emotional stress. Because of its calming effects, you may use it if you’re suffering from insomnia.

    • To drink it, boil a cup of milk. Any type of milk will do.
    • Then, add ½ teaspoon of powdered ashwagandha.
    • Let it sit there for 15 minutes.
    • Allow it the mixture to cool before drinking.

You may drink this tea every day for a few weeks.

    4. Valerian

This isn’t only great in treating anxiety but it can also be useful in patients with insomnia. Combine it with St. John’s Wort and lemon balm and you can have a wonderful natural alternative to Xanax (alprazolam).

    5. Hawthorne

It provides calming and nourishing effects to the cardiovascular system allowing your system to relax. This is especially useful if you have hypertension because of stress. You may use it along with chamomile to offer you greater calming effects.

    Wrapping Up

These natural alternatives to Xanax (alprazolam) are effective and may be safe for long-term use. However, it’s still best to get enough sleep, eat the right food and lower your stressors. When you can deal with them properly, you will no longer need Xanax or these natural alternatives.
