    What is a Martini and How to Drink it Without Gaining Weight?

    What is a martini?

    Martini is my favorite drink. It’s a cocktail that features gin or vodka (I use both). Then, you’ll add a hint of red or dry white vermouth, which is another alcoholic beverage made from wine and some herbs to add flavor.

    The ratio of gin/vodka to vermouth is usually 2:1. However, some refinements are made.

    People will make a 5:1 ratio while others want a 15:1 ratio. These ratios are popular among drinkers who prefer to have the astringent taste of gin over the sweetness of wine-based drink.

    If you find it to be too astringent or dry, then you can ask for more vermouth to counteract the tartness.

    Some drinkers, on the other hand, would order a dry martini. It’s a type of martini with minimum amount vermouth.

    How to drink martini without gaining weight?

    If you’re trying to lose weight but you don’t want to miss a martini drink when you’re out with your friends, then follow these tips.

    1. Eat right when you drink

    Martini is loaded with carbs that can cause your blood sugar to soar and crash leaving you ravenous.

    To counteract it, you should eat food that can offer long-lasting energy. These foods could be a protein-rich meal. Or go with a food that has healthy fat and fiber.

    2. Drink up to two glasses

    One to two drinks a day can still be considered a moderate drinking.

    Drinking more than that can cause your blood sugar to go out of whack causing you to feel hungrier. When you feel hungry, you’ll opt for more fried mozzarella sticks.

    The extra calories of your drink can easily cause your body to pile on the pounds.

    Thus, if you drink four glasses of martini every Saturday night, then you’ll end up gaining 10 pounds within 12 months.

    3. Drink water after every glass of martini

    This is to prevent hangover.

    After drinking martini, make sure to drink water and eat a high-fiber, high-protein snack before going to bed.

    A night of drinking can cause the lost of important nutrients in your body.

    When it happens, your body finds the richest source of energy, i.e. fat. This means that your waistline will pay the price later on.
