    How to brew the perfect cup of mint tea is a matter of personal taste. It is true that there is a fail-safe rule but a cup of tea is still a personal thing. In that case, you just have to enjoy it just the way you like it. 

    However, when you are planning to make a perfect cup of mint tea, make sure to find fresh mint leaves. They are more fragrant and comforting. Fresh mint tea is better than dried tea bags when it comes to flavor and quality. 

    The best thing about mint is that it is naturally sweet so there is no need to add sugar. However, a little amount of honey can help sweeten it up. 

    What You Will Need? 

    • A bunch of fresh mint leaves or tea bags
    • 16 ounces of boiling water

    To brew the perfect cup of mint tea, make sure to divide the leaves into two mugs. Place the leaves (tea bags) in the cups. Fill every cup with hot water. Allow it to steep for at least five minutes before you drink it. 

    If you wish to make this tea a summer quencher, you may add some ice in this recipe, instead of boiling water. 

    Is Water Temperature Vital? 

    When brewing a perfect cup of mint tea, you need to boil your water around 70 degrees Celsius. If you may use a thermometer to measure the water’s temperature. 

    However, you can purchase some kettles that can you set the boiling temperature. It is a great investment if you brew tea every day. 

    Can You Reboil the Water to Brew Tea? 

    Since tea requires oxygen, never re-boil your water. If you do so, your mint tea will have a metallic taste. 

    After the kettle has boiled, transfer the water to your teapot and add the thermometer. In that way, you can check the water’s temperature and determine whether it has cooled down to its appropriate temp. 

    Mint tea leaves require less steep time. Leave the leaves or tea bag in the pot for up to 10 minutes. However, if you wish to have stronger mint tea, you can leave the leaves or tea bag for a lot longer than 10 minutes. However, do not over-steep it as it might taste bitter. 

    The most important thing here is to remove the leaves or tea bag before you serve the tea. Do not stir the tea or squeeze the leaves or tea bag. If you do so, you are releasing the bitter compound of the tea known as tannins which will make the overall taste too bitter. 

    What If Mint Tea is Too Strong or Too Weak? 

    If it is too strong, then the reason might be that you have put less water or place too much mint tea leaves. It is vital that you put the right amount of water against the leaves. If you need stronger mint tea, you may use 2.5 grams of tea for 200 ml of water. 

    If the tea is too weak, you added too much water. As mentioned, you must only use 200 ml of water per 2.5 grams of tea or a bag of tea.
