Green tea has a reputation for being a healthy beverage because it is low in calories and rich in antioxidants. It contains a higher amount of catechins than oolong or black teas because it is processed minimally. For green tea to work as a weight-loss tool, you need to make a difference in your diet. That is, you must cut calories and be active more, on top of drinking green tea.
Green teal alone will not help you lose weight if you continue to follow a high-calorie diet or have a sedentary lifestyle. But if you pair it with exercise and a balanced diet, you will experience faster weight loss.

Decaf vs. caffeinated
The caffeine and catechins in green promote synergistic effects that result in fat burning and energy expenditure. For that reason, decaffeinated green tea may not provide the same benefits for weight loss as caffeinated green tea does.

Can you add milk or honey and still lose weight with green tea?
Be careful when adding things to your green tea. Milk, honey, and sugar may hinder green tea’s benefits, including weight loss.

Lemon juice, on the other hand, maybe a better addition to your favorite green tea if you want to lose weight because it only has seven calories an ounce.
If you opt for honey, keep in mind that a tablespoon of it has 64 calories. It may affect your appetite but it does not change how much food you eat, or it may not increase your metabolism.
But you can increase the results of drinking green tea when you spend at least 300 minutes of exercise per week. Make sure to add strength-training sessions per week. Combining green tea and training may increase the tea’s weight loss benefits.
