    According to a recent French study, apple contains a flavonoid phloridzin, which increases bone density and protects your bones against osteoporosis. With that in mind, it may protect those postmenopausal women from developing this type of bone condition as it improves inflammation markers while it increases bone density.

    Fiber and Vitamin C

    But this should not be the only reason you should start eating apple each day. This healthy food is said to contain 15% of the RDA for fiber and vitamin C. It also includes a wide array of bone-building elements, flavonoids and trace minerals.

    Vitamin C is an essential vitamin to produce collagen. As we all know, collagen can maintain muscles, bones, cartilage and blood vessels. It also supports your liver function, as well as enhances production of glutathione. This is a compound that can fight accumulated toxins in the liver.

    With the help of fiber in apple, removal of toxins can be quickly done, thereby, preventing them from being transported to other organs of the body. In this way, you can be sure you will have better liver health. Not only that. It ensures bone health while it promotes better liver function.

    Everyone knows about the health benefits of vitamin C and fiber. By eating apple each day, you can have a good source of both. The unique combination of antioxidants and bone-building minerals is what really makes apple a good healthy food option to promote healthier bones.

    In addition to vitamin C, apple is also high in boron. This is a trace mineral that is also considered as good bone supplement. It actually supports better functioning of other bone-healthy nutrients, namely calcium, phosphorus and vitamin D.

    Plus, apple is a good source of polyphenols, which are known to improve production of osteoblasts. The polyphenols in apple are found in great amount on the fruit’s peels. This is another reason you should be eating apple peels, instead of discarding them.

    Avoid Peeling Away the Nutrients

    You may be peeling your apple because of fear of pesticides. Well, you should be really worried about it. However, if you do peel it away, you’re also removing the nutrients, antioxidants and phytonutrients found in apple that can help in preventing osteoporosis.

    With that being said, it is just beneficial to eat apples that are organically produced and without waxed. Waxing is a way for farmers to pick this fruit earlier. But this will also mean that this healthy fruit is harvested before it even reaches its nutritional peak. This means, the bone-healthy nutrients in it might not be enough to support bone function.

    How to Look for the Best Apples with the Most Nutrients?

    If you have a local orchard with apples, then that’s good.

    On the other hand, if you are picking apples at the supermarket, then you must look for apples that display rich color. They must not have bruising or discolorations. They should appear smooth and feel smooth. They must not yield when you apply slight pressure.

    To preserve the apple’s nutrients, store them in the fridge. But don’t store them next to onions as they can easily soak up odors and tastes.
