Bloody Mary – How to Make It an Ideal Drink If You’re Trying to Lose Weight?

Friday night is usually a night to party with your friends at a local bar. However, if you’re on a diet, it could be extremely difficult for you to just drink anything that’s been offered by your friends.

Alcoholic drinks contain high calories. And these include your favorite Bloody Mary. Thankfully, it’s not the heaviest drink around. That’s still a good thing.

Moreover, this drink is usually served in a large glass that you can enjoy throughout the night without having to ask for a refill every, say, 20 minutes.

WHY BLOODY MARY MAY NOT BE A GOOD DRINK FOR YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?

In a 10-ounce glass of this drink, you’ll consume about 120 calories. That’s equivalent to 15 to 20 minutes of jogging.

Bars and restaurants, however, are adding more fruits and other veggie mix, which can greatly increase the drink’s caloric content. So, it’s possible to consume around 400 calories from a 10-ounce serving of Blood Mary.

IF BLOODY MARY ISN’T A GOOD DRINK TO REACH YOUR IDEAL WEIGHT, CAN IT BE USED AS A REMEDY FOR HANGOVERS?

There are rumors that it could alleviate the symptoms of hangover.

But how could it be when it contains pure vodka?

Instead of alleviating them, it can worsen the issue.

But don’t fret. If you prepare Bloody Mary, you must include more vegetables and protein-rich source, like shrimp. This may help your headaches that you’ll surely experience the next morning.

When made at home, this drink can be a healthy beverage that you can serve. You just need to put in more vitamin C on it to fight hangover.

HOW TO PREPARE BLOOD MARY IDEAL FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

You can’t lose weight if you drink Bloody Mary served by your favorite bartender. However, you can reach your ideal weight when you make your own BM at home.

What you’ll do is to avoid tomato juice and veggie mix. Don’t add salt.

Instead, mix it with a variety of vegetables, like carrots, olives and celery.

You can be creative when making your homemade Bloody Mary. Since it’s a vegetable salad in a form of a drink, BM can be an ideal choice of beverage.

To be more creative, you should try adding protein, like shrimp, bacon, fish, cheese and crab.

You may also switch vodka to Asian spirit shochu. Then, add more seasonings. Cayenne pepper and lemon juice are great choices without adding more calories to it.

    ALTERNATIVES TO BLOODY MARY

If you think that you’re not losing weight because you drink BM every Friday night, then you should consider other weight-loss-friendly alternatives to Bloody Mary.

One of them is Guinness Beer. It only contains 130 calories per 12 ounces. Apart from that, this drink has whole grains. According to several studies, whole grains contain antioxidants, just like your favorite red wine.

    Martini is another weight-loss-friendly alternative.

    WRAPPING UP

When it comes to alcoholic drinks, Bloody Mary is your worst choice if you’re on your way to achieving your ideal weight.

Go with healthier alternatives and drink in moderation. Reducing its vodka content and opting for more protein may help Bloody Mary in making it a delicious blend for those who wish to lose weight.
