While you’re watching Revenge or Game of Thrones (which will come back months from now), your body is already burning calories. Thanks to your metabolism. Your body doesn’t actually stop burning calories even if you’re at rest. But the coolest part is that you can improve it by speeding up the number of calories being torched. How? These tips can help you out.

    Eat breakfast

Skimping breakfast won’t do any good to your weight loss goal. But if you start eating your breakfast, then you’re enhancing your body’s ability to smolder calories. This is especially true if you consume it an hour after you’ve woken up.

While you’re resting overnight, your metabolism moves slowly. With the help of healthy first meal in the morning, you’ll rev it up again. To make the most of it, you can start your day by eating foods with high amounts of fiber and protein.

    Engage in exercise

Or better yet, increase your physical activity by choosing to park farther from your office. This action helps you move more, which can boost your metabolism. Or take the stairs, instead of using the lift. When you get your heart rate up, you’re keeping it elevated, which is good for your overall metabolism and useful for your weight loss goal.

When you do workout, make sure that you vary your rhythm. That is, get into the treadmill for 30 seconds then rest for 30 seconds before you go on the treadmill again. Intervals are important to maximize the benefits of working out.

    Drink tea or coffee

Once you’re in your office, you can go ahead and drink a cup of coffee or tea. Caffeine can heighten your metabolism, even if its effects are just mild. However, you must make sure that you don’t put those other ingredients, like milk and sugar. These can just negate the weight loss effects of caffeine to your body.

Choose the right food to eat

Stirring up your metabolism involves eating the right food and avoiding processed ones. During lunch, you can opt to eat turkey sandwich with lettuce, tomato and mustard. Then, add a piece of fruit on the side, like apple or grapes.

    Drink water

Instead of consuming soda, you must opt to drink water. The more water you consume, the better it is for your metabolism and your weight loss goal.

Did you know that drinking cold water during colder temperatures can further improve your metabolism? According to a study, taking cold water during colder weather will cause your body to burn more calories. But this principle doesn’t hold true when it comes to ice cream. This is because ice cream’s calories are too high to obtain positive benefits for weight loss.

    Consume chocolate milk

That’s good news for you, eh? Experts suggested that consuming chocolate milk after working out can keep your metabolism stronger. This is because as you exercise, you’re not only eliminating body fats but you’re also losing glucose. But you need glucose to keep your metabolism in control. To bring it back it right away, you must drink chocolate milk.

    Devour spicy foods

Eating spicy foods can further improve your metabolism, which is good for your weight loss goal. That said, don’t forget to top your meals with Tabasco. What’s great about spicy foods is that they don’t contain fats.

    Take time to relax

Why do you think Gisele Bundchen has maintained her perfect figure despite having two kids? She’s doing yoga and she takes time to meditate. Relaxing yourself after a very stressful day can improve your metabolism. And by relaxing, it also means that you have to get enough sleep. You must aim for seven to eight hours of sleep each night. It’ll surely maintain your metabolism in excellent condition.

Apart from these suggestions, there are plenty more that you can do to improve your metabolism and help you lose weight. But these can all be summed up into four steps: drink water, work out, eat healthy and sleep well.
