Obesity can cause numerous health problems and women’s health is at serious risk from it. That said, it’s important for our government to make it a national priority to help these overweight individuals to lose weight.
The latest report shows 51 percent of women, ages 25 and 34, are obese.
We can blame the increasing number of obese people on the food industry and the supermarkets all we want, but business is a business.
While we’re waiting for them to change their tactics, there are things that you can do to improve your own weight and health.
1. Cook your own food
Although it’s pretty obvious that whatever food that you put in your body will directly affect your weight, some of us still love to dine out and consume those unhealthy foods serve in their favorite restaurants.
But when you learn how to cook fresh food, you can easily tackle obesity and improve your weight loss result. It may not be possible to some people who don’t have access to a kitchen. But if it’s possible for you, you should try it.
When you eat up to 400 grams of fruit and vegetables per day, you can significantly increase your risk of developing hypertension and some types of cancer.
2. Track your fitness
The lack of exercise is another reason some people are obese. That said, if you want to lose weight, you need to get moving.
When moving, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to join a gym or pay for fitness classes. You just need to walk more or stand up for three hours a day could help you burn up to 3.6 kg of fat per year.
Most of us love to sit down at work, in our car, in front of our television. But we’re designed to stand up and keep moving so by moving more, we can burn those calories and lose weight effectively.
3. Avoid eating for two when pregnant
If you’re pregnant, you may think that you need to eat for two. But it’s just a myth. When you overeat, your overall health will be affected, especially the life that’s inside your womb. You won’t only suffer from life-threatening conditions, but the health of your child is also at risk.
Before you even get pregnant, you should learn how to adopt a healthier lifestyle. You should improve your diet before getting pregnant so you’ll never have a problem losing weight when you’re expecting.
It’s ideal that you increase your consumption of fruits and vegetables and include some high-fiber foods. Then again, you should not over-indulge, even if they’re healthy foods.
4. Use smaller plates
Reducing your plate size to 10 inches can result in the reduction of calorie consumption. However, when you go below 10 inches, you won’t feel satisfaction in what you’re eating so you tend to eat more.
Serve your meals in a 10-inch plate, instead of a bigger one. Do it for a year and you’ll surely lose a significant amount of weight, according to this experimental study.
